We raise all our puppies on our 400 acre farm in a clean environment with daily care. We strive to place healthy happy puppies in loving pet homes. As a family owned and operated business, we believe we offer unconditional love through our pets.
Glen and I over see each breeding and use a Perpetual Whelping Chart to accurately determine the delivery date. Expecting mommies are moved to the climate-controlled birthing area on 53rd day of gestation. Their due dates are monitored closely and each new mommy is given plenty of time to acclimate to her new surroundings and each mommy is closely monitored before delivery. We strive to make this time a more peaceful and relaxing period of time before the delivery.
The newborn puppies remain with their mommy until the age of 6 weeks. During the first 6 weeks of life the puppies have been dewormed 2 times, had their 5 week Vanguard Plus 5 – Canine Distemper-Adenovirus Type 2 Parainfluenza-Parvovirus Vaccine. At 5 to 6 weeks they have already learned how to eat dry food, and be separated from mommy for short periods of time. This makes a more harmonious transition when they are totally weaned from their mothers at 6 weeks of age.
When the puppies leave their mommies they are free to run in the socialization area and puppy yard. Also in the weaning area they learn to go in and out the doggie-door. This is an important start in the process of learning to go potty outdoors. By age 8 weeks the puppies are potty broke to a doggie-door. Also during this time the puppies have received their 7 week Vanguard Plus 5 Vaccine, and been dewormed again.
During the first 8 weeks of a puppy’s life we focus on the most important factor in raising a healthy happy puppy, socialization.
Socialization is the most important part of the transition to their new home and family. We socialize our puppies with other larger dogs and puppies, different breeds of dogs and puppies, and of course they receive lots of human touch. We have grandchildren and as often as possible the puppies are held and loved by children and adults. They learn to play, and learn how Mother Nature’s pecking order is established in the animal world.
Our puppies are bathed often and groomed, having their toe nails clipped and ears washed several times before they go to their new homes. Most of the puppies enjoy playing in the warm bath water and enjoy the extra attention they receive at grooming time.
By age 8 weeks, puppies have had their first visit to the veterinarian and have a written certificate of good health. Also, at this time if any hernias are found during their vet check they are repaired. Only now is it time for our puppies to leave Spencer Farm.
Our purpose during the first 8 weeks of our puppy’s life has been to nurture, care and socialize, but most importantly, prepare them for their new forever homes. Once you receive your beautiful bundle of cuddly love, it will be your responsibility to continue each of the steps in the nurturing of the puppy. It is VERY important for the puppies to continue their vet visits, shot/worming, and socialization schedule so they will be a well balanced social, loving and healthy pet companion.
Our aim is to provide a loving, loyal and happy life time companion. The socialization that our puppies receive from birth enhances the ability of the puppies to be smarter and more compatible with other pets and animals. We are committed to achieving premium results in our breeding program. We breed for strong, healthy, easy going, playful, loving temperaments, and are successful in breeding health happy puppies for our clients and provide them with quality puppies. All puppies are up to date on shots, dewormings and dew clawed.
Our puppies come with a Health Guarantee to age one. I have prepared the health guarantee, it is you, the customers responsibility, to read and understand the health guarantee on our Health Guarantee page. If you have questions you should ask now, before you purchase a puppy.
Most importantly, remember, that purchasing a puppy is a life time commitment. The puppy you purchase will give you unconditional love and depend on you for everything in his life. We reserve the right to withhold the sale of a puppy if we believe it is not the best interest of the puppy. updated 10.15.15
